CVL Sites Accessibility Statement

The Colorado State Library’s CVL Sites program provides websites for many Colorado organizations. The State Library provides the content management systems for the sites, administers the sites’ server, and advises and assists site owners as needed on issues related to the sites’ maintenance, administration, and usability. The State Library makes every effort to ensure that the sites are accessible, and compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA guidelines, as required by Colorado law. The State Library is not, however, responsible for the content of our client sites.

Conformance status

CVL Sites uses WordPress as the sites’ content management system. WordPress has committed to compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA. An individual site may, however, have themes and plugins that are not fully compliant. Moreover, content created with these platforms may not conform to AA guidelines because of human error or a lack of knowledge about what the guidelines require.

The State Library includes accessibility throughout our internal policies, and in trainings for Web content authors. We also regularly check the sites we host with accessibility audit software, which is also made available to site owners, to help ensure accessibility guidelines are being followed and any issues found are addressed in a timely manner.
